Research Interests: The interface of tissue engineering and developmental biology, with special emphasis on biomechanical aspects of tissue development. The broad theme of our work is understanding how biomechanical, biochemical, and topographical signals regulate the differentiation and phenotypic expression of musculoskeletal cells. Within this theme, we study: modulation of chondrocyte phenotypic expression; biomechanical regulation during musculoskeletal tissue development; and the development of biomimetic tissue engineering approaches.
